Zale (NYSE:ZLC) announced a wider fiscal first-quarter loss following an amendment in the terms of its senior secured term loan, which resulted in a $46 million charge.
The company lost $97.9 million, or $3.05 per share, in the quarter versus $59.7 million, or $1.87 per share, in the fiscal first quarter. Revenue fell 1 percent, to $327 million versus $329.2 million. However, profit margins grew and its expenses decreased, and the company lost less money from operations.
Shares are lower by over 10.7 percent.
La-Z-Boy (NYSE:LZB) shares are lower after the company reported a 35 percent decline in earnings, citing the weak economy and low consumer confidence. Net income was $3.9 million, or 7 cents per share, versus $6 million, or 11 cents per share, in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue fell 2.6 percent to $293 million from $300.7 million a year ago.
Shares are lower by over 8.9 percent.
Jack in the Box (NASDAQ:JACK) shares are lower today after the company's earnings missed analyst estimates. Jack in the Box reported a 4.2% increase in fiscal fourth quarter revenue to $563.2 million versus year-earlier sales of $540.3 million. Net income fell $4 million, or 7 cents per share, compared with year-earlier earnings of $40.6 million, or 70 cents per share. Same store sales at Jack in the Box restaurants fell 3.3%.
