Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) said late yesterday in a regulatory filing it sold $2 billion in two debt offerings. The offerings consisted of $650 million in notes due December 1, 2015 and $1.35 billion in notes due December 1, 2020.
Novell (NOVL) posted earnings after the bell of $322.2 million, or $0.91 per share, compared to a loss of $255.7 million, or $0.74 per share, in the same quarter last year.
The business software firm said revenue fell 4%, to $206.5 million.
And, VeriFone Systems (PAY) posted a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $49.4 million, or $0.55 per share, compared to a loss of $2.2 million, or $0.03 per share, in the same quarter last year.
Adjusted earnings of $0.40 per share beat analyst expectations, as did a 27% surge in revenue, to $276 million.
The electronic payment firm’s first quarter projections of earnings of $0.38-$0.39 per share beat analyst forecasts as well.
