Apparel maker Oxford (NYSE:OXM) shares are lower Thursday, a day after the company provided a fourth-quarter outlook that missed Wall Street expectations.
Third-quarter results did beat market expectations, but the earnings forecase of 28-33 cents a share for the fourth quarter is leading investors to sell the stock, sending shares lower by nearly 18 percent.
Dell (NYSE:DELL) said today it plans to acquire data storage company Compellent Technologies (CML) for $27.50 per share in a deal worth nearly $1 billion. Dell had tried earlier in the year to acquire data storage firm 3Par (NYSE:PAR), but it lost a bidding war to HP (NYSE:HPQ).
The offer was, however, an 18 percent discount from Compellent's closing Nasdaq yesterday, though shares are more than 90 percent higher than they were in late October when takeover rumors started to swirl.
