Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH) posted fiscal second quarter earnings from continuing operations of $215 million, or $0.61 per share, compared to $230 million, or $0.64 per share in the same quarter last year.
Adjusted earnings of $0.69 per share beat analyst expectations.
Revenue was just ahead of expectations, rising 2%, to $25.4 billion.
Cardinal Health said it was raising its full year forecast to earnings of $2.54 to $2.60 per share today, ahead of analyst estimates.
Also today, health insurer Cigna (NYSE:CI) posted fourth quarter earnings of $461 million, or $1.69 per share, compared to $330 million, or $1.19 per share, in the same quarter last year.
Adjusted earnings of $1.15 were well ahead of analyst expectations, as was revenue, which rose 17%, to $5.43 billion.
Cigna said it is looking for earnings of $4.30 to $4.70 per share in 2011.
