A powerful, 8.9 magnitude earthquake shook Japan on Friday, and a massive tsunami swept away buildings and boats. Residents had been warned to move to higher ground prior to the tsunami, which moved miles inland.
The quake is said to be the strongest in Japanís recorded history, and a tsunami warning has been issued for the Pacific including Hawaii, Alaska and the West Coast of the U.S.
The FTSE RAFI Japan Portfolio (PJO) is trading flat, while the iShares MSCI Japan Index Fund (NYSE:EWJ) trades down almost 1.6%.
The WisdomTree Japan Hedged Equity Fund (NYSE:DXJ) is trading down 3%.
In the US, The SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE:SPY) trading down over .1%.
