The iShares S&P Global Healthcare Sector Index Fund ETF (AMEX:IXJ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 409,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 36,000. Shares of IXJ were up about 1.2% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), trading up about 2.1% with over 22.1 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Merck & (NYSE:MRK), up about 1.2% on volume of over 6.0 million shares. Coventry Health Care (CVH) is the component faring the best Thursday, up by about 6% on the day, while Genzyme (NASDAQ:GENZ) is lagging other components of the iShares S&P Global Healthcare Sector Index Fund ETF, trading relatively unchanged.
