Investors will be digesting economic data and the effect of the Bin Laden death on the markets this week.
Good morning, I'm Sayoko Murase, with the Week Ahead Market Report for May 2, 2011.
In overseas trading, Japans Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by nearly 1.6 percent, and the Hang Seng Index was lower by a little over a third of a percent.
The FTSE 100 was about even, while the German DAX was higher by a little over half a percent. In the US, the markets are higher in early trading.
Key data due to be released this week includes construction spending and auto sales on Monday, initial claims on Wednesday, and the unemployment rate on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Anadarko Petroleum (APC) on Monday, American Financial Group (AFG), and Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) on Tuesday, Goodrich Petroleum (GDP) on Wednesday, and United Bancorp (NASDAQ:UBCP) on Friday.
