Investors start off the trading session this Monday morning breathing a sigh of relief and fretting less after lawmakers reached a deal over the weekend regarding the debt ceiling in the United States.
Good morning, I'm Sayoko Murase, with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 1, 2011.
In overseas trading, Japans Nikkei 225 Stock Average was by over 1.3 percent, and the Hang Seng Index was higher by about one percent.
The FTSE 100 was higher by over 1.4 percent, and the German DAX was higher by about half a percent.
In the US, the markets are lower in early trading action.
Key data due to be released this week includes auto and truck sales on Tuesday and the MBA Mortgage Index on Wednesday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ:MDRX) and Boston Beer Company (NYSE:SAM) on Tuesday, Cross Country Healthcare (NASDAQ:CCRN) on Wednesday, Tecumseh Products (NASDAQ:TECUA) on Thursday, and Berkshire Bancorp (NASDAQ:BERK) on Friday.
