Investors are ringing in the new trading week on a positive note following a strong start to the holiday shopping season as reported by retailers and encouraging news from Europe.
Good morning, this is the Week Ahead Market Report for Monday November 28, 2011.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by nearly 1.6 percent, and the Hang Seng Index was higher by almost two percent.
The FTSE 100 was was higher by about 2.8 percent, and the German DAX was higher by about 4.2 percent.
In the US, markets are sharply higher this morning.
Some key data due to be released this week includes pending home sales on Wednesday, initial claims on Thursday, and the unemployment rate on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Lentuo International (NYSE:LAS) on Tuesday, American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) on Wednesday, Barnes and Noble (NYSE:BKS) on Thursday, and Lizhan Environmental (LZEN) as well as Teavana Holdings (TEA) on Friday.
