Wendy's (NASDAQ:WEN) said today the president of its North American division will leave the company as of the end of the year.
David Karam is departing to return to his Cedar Enterprises business, which operates 151 Wendy's restaurants in six states.
CEO Emil Brolick noted that Karam implemented many changes to Wendy's including the introduction of higher quality options like Natural Cut Fries and premium salads.
Wendy's will not replace Karam, and Brolick will take direct responsibility for heading up the North American business.
Wendy's shares are trading down over .5% Tuesday.
Rival McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) is trading down a penny, while Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM) trades down about .4%.
Drive-in burger chain Sonic (SONC) is trading down .4% Tuesday, while Jack in the Box (NASDAQ:JACK) trades down about .5%.
