Among the slew of retailers reporting November sales figures today are department stores at all price points, revealing a first look into early holiday sales.
Macy's (NYSE:M) said same-store sales rose 4.8% in November, ahead of expectations, helped by a strong Black Friday.
Dillard's (NYSE:DDS) reported a 3% increase in same-store sales, meeting analyst expectations.
J.C. Penney (JCP) posted a 2% decline in same-store sales, a little worse than analysts anticipated.
Value-oriented department store Kohl's (NYSE:KSS) reported a 6.2% drop in November same-store sales, compared to analyst expectations for a gain in sales.
Discounter Target (NYSE:TGT) posted a 1.8% increase in same-store sales, not as much of a gain as analysts anticipated.
High-end department store Nordstrom (NYSE:JWN) said same-store sales rose 5.6% in November, better than analysts had forecast.
Saks (SKS) said same-store sales rose 9.3% for the month.
