McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) posted a super-sized gain in same-store sales growth for November today.
The burger behemoth said same-store sales globally rose 7.4%.
U.S. sales rose 6.5%, helped by the addition of its seasonal Peppermint Mocha as well as everyday value items and a McNuggets promotion.
The company's increasingly popular breakfast and McCafe espresso drinks have brought it into increasing competition with breakfast and coffee chains like Dunkin Brands (NASDAQ:DNKN) Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX), in addition to the company's traditional rivals like Burger King and Wendy's (NASDAQ:WEN).
Same-store sales in Europe rose 6.5% as well, on performance in the U.K., France, Russia and Germany.
And sales in its Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment rose 8.1%, led by Japan and China.
McDonald's shares are trading higher following the report.
