Aeropostale (ARO) reported a decline in third quarter earnings late yesterday, to $24.1 million, or $0.30 per share, from $58.5 million, or $0.63 per share, last year.
The teen retailer said revenue slid 1%, to $596.5 million, on a 9% decline in same-store sales.
Results were ahead of analyst expectations, but Aeropostale's fourth quarter forecast, for earnings of $0.35 to $0.38 per share, fall below Wall Street predictions.
Also late yesterday, apparel retailer Coldwater Creek (CWTR) posted a wider loss for its fiscal third quarter, of $29.2 million, or $0.31 per share, compared to a loss of $10.9 million, or $0.12 per share, last year.
Revenue fell 19%, to $187.5 million, on a 20% dip in same-store sales.
The loss was narrower than analysts expected, and revenue was better.
And, the retailer said it now expects a fourth quarter loss of $0.13 to $0.21 per share, compared to a prior expectation for a loss of $0.17 to $0.26 per share. The new forecast is also a narrower loss than analysts have predicted.
Guess (NYSE:GES) reported third quarter earnings late yesterday of $66.3 million, or $0.71 per share, compared to $69.1 million, or $0.75 per share, last year.
Revenue rose 4.7%, to $642.8 million. Both earnings per share and revenue missed analyst expectations.
Guess said it is looking for fourth quarter earnings of $1.03 to $1.09 per share, on revenue of $780 million to $795 million. The forecast also falls short of analyst estimates.
