Standard & Poor's announced a number of changes to its indices late yesterday, which could lead to moves in the related stocks.
S&P said AGL Resources (AGL) will replace Nicor (GAS) in the S&P 500 index after the close of trading on Monday, when AGL is expected to close its acquisition of Nicor.
In turn, HSN (NASDAQ:HSNI) will replace AGL in the S&P MidCap 400, and EnerSys (NYSE:ENS) will replace HSN in the S&P SmallCap 600 index.
S&P said it was also making a series of changes based on market capitalization, in the interest of each index appropriately representing its market cap range, following the close of trading on December 16.
BorgWarner (NYSE:BWA) will replace AK Steel (NYSE:AKS) in the S&P 500, and AK Steel will replace Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:REGN) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index, and Regeneron will take BorgWarner's place in the S&P MidCap 400.
Perrigo (NYSE:PRGO) and Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR) will replace Monster Worldwide (MWW) and MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) in the S&P 500, and Monster and MEMC will take Perrigo and Dollar Tree's places in the MidCap 400.
S&P SmallCap 600 constituents HMS Holdings (NASDAQ:HMSY), World Fuel Services (NYSE:INT) and Clarcor (CLC) will swap places with S&P MidCap 400 members The Ryland Group (RYL), Cousins Properties (NYSE:CUZ) and Career Education (NASDAQ:CECO).
