In trading on Wednesday, the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (AMEX:XSD) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 4.9% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Freescale Semiconductor Holdings (NYSE:FSL), up about 12.4% and shares of Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE:FCS), up about 11.7% on the day.
And underperforming other ETFs today is the Environmental Services ETF (AMEX:EVX), off about 0.6% in Wednesday afternoon trading. Among components of that ETF with the weakest showing on Wednesday were shares of Veolia Environnement (NYSE:VE), lower by about 4.3%, and shares of Newpark Resources (NYSE:NR), lower by about 3% on the day.
