Investors are ringing in the new trading week with caution as they continue to follow news from talks to resolve Europe's ongoing debt woes, and continue to digest a weak U.S. growth report issued on Friday.
Good morning, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for Monday January 30, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by about 0.54 persent, and the Hang Seng Index was lower by 1.66 percent.
The FTSE 100 was lower by about 1.2 percent, and the German DAX is also lower by about 1.2 percent.
Some key data due to be released this week includes consumer confidence on Tuesday, construction spending on Wednesday, niitial claims on Thursday, and the unemployment rate on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Affiliated Managers Group (NYSE:AMG) on Tuesday, Covenant Transportation Group (NASDAQ:CVTI) on Wednesday, Atwood Oceanics (NYSE:ATW) on Thursday, and Health Net (NYSE:HNT) as well as Aon (NYSE:AON) on Friday.
