Petsmart (PETM) announced that it earned $102 million, or 91 cents per share in its fourth fiscal quarter. Revenue was $1.64 billion. Analysts had expected a profit of 90 cents per share, and revenue of $.62 billion. The company forecast 2012 earnings between $3.02 and $3.16 per share, beating estimates of $2.54 per share. The company expects sales grwoth between 7.5% and 8.5 %, in line with estimates.
Shares are slightly lower in early trading.
Rival PetCo is privately held, although PetSmart also competes heavily with discounters like Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) and Target (NYSE:TGT).
