Investors ring in the new trading week digesting news about an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) dividend and UPS (NYSE:UPS) announcing plans to acquire shipper TNT.
Good morning, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for March 19, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about a tenth of a percent, and the Hang Seng Index was lower by about one percent.
The FTSE 100 was lower by about a third of a percent, and the German DAX was lower by about half a percent.
Some key data due to be released this week includes housing starts on Tuesday, initial claims on on Thursday, and new home sales on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Jefferies Group (NYSE:JEF) on Tuesday and GameStop (NYSE:GME) as well as FedEx (NYSE:FDX) on Thursday.
