Markets are lower today, mainly in response to Friday's disappointing jobs data. In afternoon trading, the Dow was down 105 points while the S&P 500 was lower by 1%.
Earnings season will start this week, with aluminum giant Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announcing on Tuesday. Tech giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) will announce after the close on Thursday, while JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) will announce on Friday morning.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) today experienced a rare downgrade, with BTIG Research warning that the company's telecom partners may reduce generous iPhone subsidies. The stock, however, shrugged off the downgrade by setting new highs in afternoon trading.
