The SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF (NYSE:GNR) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 148,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 54,000. Shares of GNR were up about 2.1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Alcoa (NYSE:AA), trading up about 2.7% with over 20.2 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport-Mcmoran Copper & Gold (NYSE:FCX), up about 5.1% on volume of over 10.9 million shares. Peabody Energy (NYSE:BTU) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 6.2% on the day, while Archer Daniels Midland (NYSE:ADM) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF, trading lower by about 0.3%.
