Verizon (NYSE:VZ) announced that it earned $1.69 billion or 59 cents per share for its most recent fiscal quarter, beating Wall Street estimates of 58 cents per share. In the same period last year, the company earned $1.44 billion, or 51 cents per share. Revenue increased to $28.24 billion from $26.99 billion, also beating estimates of $28.17 billion.
At Verizon Wireless, the average monthly bill for subscribers was $55.43, up 3.6 percent from the same period last year, mostly due to subscribers using more expensive data plans for products such as Apple's iPhone.
