Investors are ringing in the new trading week pushing stocks higher despite a disappointing report by Citigroup (NYSE:C) that earnings fell by 12%.
Good morning, this is Tracey Fitzpatrick with the Week Ahead Market Report for April 16, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by about 1.74 percent and the Hang Seng was lower by about four tenths of a percent.
The FTSE 100 was lower by about 0.11 percent, and the German DAX was higher by about 1.16 percent.
Some key data due to be released this week includes housing starts on Tuesday, crude inventories on Wednesday, and initial claims on Thursday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Cathay General Bancorp (NASDAQ:CATY) on Tuesday, Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:BK) on Wednesday, Arbitron (NYSE:ARB) on Thursday, and American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) on Friday.
