The first trading day of the week has investors closely monitoring ongoing talks in Europe hoping that a deal can be reached with Greece.
Good morning, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for May 21, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about a quarter of a percent, while the Hang Seng is off by 0.16%. The FTSE 100 is lower by about 0.75%, and the German DAX is higher by 0.83%.
Some key data due to be released this week includes existing home sales on Tuesday, new home sales on Wednesday, initial claims on Thursday, and the Michigan sentiment on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) on Tuesday, Big Lots (NYSE:BIG) on Wednesday, Flower's Foods (NYSE:FLO) on Thursday, and America's CAR-MART (NASDAQ:CRMT) as well as Tsakos Energy Navigation (NYSE:TNP) on Friday.
