The First Trust Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index Fund ETF (AMEX:FGD) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Friday, with over 164,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 62,000. Shares of FGD were up about 3% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Friday were AT&T (NYSE:T), trading up about 0.6% with over 13.4 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Altria Group (NYSE:MO), up about 1.3% on volume of over 3.9 million shares. Microchip Technology (NASDAQ:MCHP) is the component faring the best Friday, higher by about 2.7% on the day, while Southern (NYSE:SO) is lagging other components of the First Trust Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index Fund ETF, trading lower by about 0.9%.
