Home Depot (NYSE:HD) announced that it earned $1.53 billion, or $1.01 per share, in its second fiscal quarter that ended on July 29, up from $1.36 billion, $0.86 per share in the same period last year. Analysts had expected earnings of of 97 cents per share. Revenue increased by 1.7 percent to $20.57 billion, below estimates of $20.74 billion.
Shares are higher in early trading.
Rival Lowes (NYSE:LOW) will report earnings on Monday.
