The first trading day of the holiday shortened trading week opens with investors weighing a new report from China indicating that manufacturing growth may be slowing in that country.
Good morning, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for September 4, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by about 0.10 percent, while the Hang Seng was lower by about 0.66 percent. The FTSE 100 was lower by about eight tenths of a percent and the German DAX was lower by about 0.3 percent.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from ABM Industries (NYSE:ABM) on Wednesday, National Beverage (NASDAQ:FIZZ) on Thursday, and Kroger (NYSE:KR), Peregrine Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:PPHM), as well as Brady Corp. (NYSE:BRC) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on productivity on Wednesday, continuing claims on Thursday, and the unemployment rate on Friday.
