PNC Financial Services Group (NYSE:PNC) announced that third-quarter earnings increased by 6 percent from the same period last year to $876 million, or $1.64 a share from $826 million, $1.55 cents a share. Revenue increased to $4.1 billion from $3.5 billion a year earlier.
Shares are lower by about 3.7 percent.
Commerce Bancshares (NASDAQ:CBSH) announced that it earned 75 cents per share, or $66 million, for the most recent fiscal quarter, versus 72 cents per share, or $65.4 million, in the same period last year. Analysts had expcted earnings of 77 cents.
