General Electric (NYSE:GE) announced that net income increased by 49 percent during the third quarter to $3.49 billion, or 33 cents per share. The company earned 36 cents per share on on adjusted basis, in line with estimates, and 13 percent higher than last year. Revenue increased by $1 billion, or 3 percent to $36.35 billion, below estimates of $36.95 billion.
Shares are lower by about 2.5 percent.
Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR) announced that it earned $321.6 million, or $1.03 per share, during the third quarter, up from $86.2 million, or 25 cents per share during the same period of 2011. Revenue was $3.6 billion, down from $3.9 billion in the same period last year.
