The first trading day of the trading week will have investors closely monitoring earnings report to assess upside in the stock market during the remainder of the quarter.
Good morning, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for October 15, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about half of one percent, while the Hang Seng was about even today. The FTSE 100 was higher by about half of one percnet and the German DAX was higher by about eight tenths of a percent.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Cathay General Bancorp (NASDAQ:CATY) on Tuesday, Covanta Holding (NYSE:COV) on Wednesday, Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD) on Thursday, and Alliance Financial (ALNC) as well as Cooper Industries (CBE) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on industrial production on Tuesday, housing starts on Wednesday, initial claims on Thursday, and existing home sales on Friday.
