The first trading day of the trading week will have investors monitoring poll results as the two U.S. presidential candidates have their final debate tonight.
Good morning, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for October 22, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about a tenths of a percent, while the Hang Seng was higher by about seven tenths of a percent. The FTSE 100 was lower by about a tenths of a percent and the German DAX was lower by about a quarter of a percent.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from 3M (NYSE:MMM) on Tuesday, Akamai (NASDAQ:AKAM) on Wednesday, Altria (NYSE:MO) on Thursday, and HMS Holdings (NASDAQ:HMSY) as well as Immunogen (NASDAQ:IMGN) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on new home sales on Wednesday, dural orders on Thursday, and the Michigan sentiment on Friday.
