The first trading day of the trading week has markets pointing to a lower open after the World Bank cut its growth forecasts for East Asia.
Good morning, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for October 8, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about four tenths of a percent, while the Hang Seng was off about 0.9% today. The FTSE 100 was about even and the German DAX fell by about 1.2 percent.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Alcoa (NYSE:AA) on Tuesday, Ruby Tuesday (NYSE:RT) on Wednesday, Groupon (NASDAQ:GRPN) on Thursday, as well as Webster Financial on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on wholesale inventories on Wednesday initial claims on Thursday, and PPI on Friday.
