Abercrombie and Fitch (ANF) announced that it earned $71.5 million, or 87 cents per share, versus $50.9 million, or 57 cents per share, in the same period last year. Analysts had expected earnings of 59 cents per share. Revenue increased by 9 percent to $1.17 billion, fueled by a 37 percent increase internationally. Same store sames fell by 3 percent, which was an improvement over the 10 percent drop during the second quarter.
Shares are sharply higher in early trading.
Rival American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) is schedule to announce earnings on November 28, with analysts expecting earnings per share of 39 cents.
