Ann (ANN) announced that earnings increased by 26 percent during the fiscal third quarter due to better sales at Ann Taylor retail outlets. Earnings were $40.7 million, or 84 cents per share, up from $32.3 million, or 61 cents per share, in the same period last year. Revenue increased by nine percent to $612.5 million from $564 million. Revenue from Ann Taylor locations increased by six percent to $244.6 million, whiled Ann Taylor Loft revenue increased by 10 percent to $368 million during the quarter. Same store sales increased companywide by 5.5 percent. Analysts had forecast a profit of 75 cents per share on $606.1 million in revenue.
Shares are higher by about 7.5 percent.
JoS. A. Bank Clothiers (JOSB) announced that it earned $13.3 million, or 47 cents per share, in the most recent fiscal quarter, versus $15 million, or 54 cents per share, in the same period last year. Revenue increased by 11 percent to $232.9 million.
