Strong Jobs Numbers Could Give Obama's Campaign A Boost Friday, November 2, 11:02 AM ET
This morning, the Labor Department reported strong October jobs numbers that showed gains of 171,000 jobs, much stronger than economists had been expecting. The report also increased its September estimates to 148,000 jobs gained. While the jobless rate did tick higher to 7.9%, it was related to more workers joining the workforce. This will be the last major piece of economic news before the November 6th Presidential election and the markets are responding favorably this morning.
