Zumiez (NASDAQ:ZUMZ) announced that it earned $12.7 million, or for 40 cents per share, during the third-quarter, versus $14.1 million, or 45 cents per share, in the same period last year. Total sales were $180 million, up from $153 million in the same period last year. Excluding items, earnings were 51 cents per share. Analysts had expected earnings of 48 cents per share on sales of $182.3 million. The company expects sales of $218 to $221 million, and earnings of 59 to 62 cents per share for the fourth quarter. Analysts had expected earnings of $222.9 million on earnings of 71 cents per share.
Shares are lower in early trading.
Earlier this month, rival Hot Topic (HOTT) reported a 38 percent jump in third-quarter net earnings.
