The Labor Department announced that jobless claims decreased by 25,000 to 370,000 in the week ended December 1, as the lingering effects from Hurricane Sandy waned.
Currently, there are 2.04 million people that receive federal extended unemployment benefits. Together with the latest 2.83 million currently receiving traditional continued unemployment benefits, there are 4.88 million people receiving state and federal unemployment benefits in the country.
