As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Tuesday, Oiltanking Partners LP (NYSE:OILT)'s Director, D. Mark Leland, made a $19,561 buy of OILT, purchasing 500 shares at a cost of $39.12 each. So far Leland is in the green, up about 1.5% on their buy based on today's trading high of $39.72. Oiltanking Partners LP is trading up about 0.4% on the day Wednesday. Before this latest buy, Leland bought OILT at 9 other times during the past twelve months, for a total investment of $184,467 at an average of $36.89 per share.
And at FuelCell Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FCEL), there was insider buying on Tuesday, by CEO Arthur A. Bottone Jr. who purchased 5,000 shares for a cost of $1.03 each, for a total investment of $5,150. This buy marks the first one filed by Bottone Jr. in the past year. FuelCell Energy Inc is trading up about 3.6% on the day Wednesday. So far Bottone Jr. is in the green, up about 12.6% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $1.16.
