Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) announced that earnings during the fourth quarter more than doubled due to a growing subcriber base resulting in higher revenue. The company earned $156.2 million, or 2 cents per share, during the most recent quarter, up from $71.3 million, or 1 cent per share, in the same period last year. Revenue increased by 14 percent to $892.4 million from $783.7 million. Analysts had expected earnings of two cents per share and revenue of $899.7 million.
Shares are lower by about half of one percent.
Arch Coal (NYSE:ACI) announced that it lost $295.4 million during the fourth quarter, versus a loss of $71.2 million in the same quarter the prior years. Revenue was $968.2 million, 21 percent lower than the revenue of $1.23 billion during the same quarter a year earlier.
