Investors are kicking off the new holiday shortened trading week with all eyes on the consumer as they await key economic data, as well as more signs of clarity from the Fed with regards to future monetary policy.
Good morning this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for February 19, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by about 0.31 percent and the Hang Seng was lower by about one percent. The FTSE 100 was higher by about 0.6 percent and the German DAX was higher by about 1.25 percent.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from AerCap (NYSE:AER) on Wednesday, Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ:BV), Cabot Oil and Gas (NYSE:COG), and Cubesmart (NYSE:CUBE) on Thursday, and Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on housing starts on Wednesday and initial claims and housing starts on Thursday.
