Investors are kicking off the new trading week on an upbeat note, though a lack of economic indicator news, coupled with low volume as the Northeast continues to dig out from blizzard Nemo suggests a volatile trading day head.
Good morning this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for February 11, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by about 1.8 percent and the Hang Seng was higher by about 0.16 percent. The FTSE 100 was higher by about 0.3 percent and the German DAX was about even.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Blue Nile (NASDAQ:NILE) and Clearwire (NASDAQ:CLWR) on Tuesday, Cloud Peak Energy (NYSE:CLD) on Wednesday, Enbridge Energy Partners (NYSE:EEP) on Thursday, and Forum Energy Technologies (NYSE:FET) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on the Treasury Budget on Tuesday, retail sales on Wednesday, continuing claims on Thursday, and capacity utilization on Friday.
