In corporate news, Boeing (NYSE:BA) advanced after reports that U.S. regulators were preparing to approave a new series of test flights of its 787 Dreamliner with a few days.
Pier 1 Imports (NYSE:PIR) was lower after the company issued an earnings forecast below analyst estimates.
Gap (GAP) was higher after it was leaked that same store sales increased by three percent.
