As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Tuesday, Director John D. Markley Jr. bought 1,750 shares of CHTR, for a cost of $87.06 each, for a total investment of $152,352. Charter Communications Inc is trading off about 1.2% on the day Friday. Before this latest buy, Markley Jr. bought CHTR at 2 other times during the past twelve months, for a total investment of $257,299 at an average of $64.32 per share.
And also on Tuesday, Director William C. Montgomery bought $146,210 worth of Apache Corp. (NYSE:APA), buying 2,000 shares at a cost of $73.11 a piece. Apache Corp. is trading trading flat on the day Friday. Montgomery was up about 4.2% on the purchase at the high point of today's trading session, with APA trading as high as $76.17 in trading on Friday.
