LMI Aerospace (NASDAQ:LMIA) announced that profit in the first quarter declined by 77 percent to $951,000 versus the same period last year, partially due to a $4.8 million charge related to costs from the acquisition of Valent Aerostructures and TASS. The company reported sales of $71.9 million, down 11 percent from the same period last year. For the full year, the company earned $16.5 million, higher by 0.6 percent, while sales increased about 10 percent to $278.6 million in the same period last year.
Safety Insurance (NASDAQ:SAFT) announced that it earned $9.6 million, or 62 cents per share during the fourth quarter of 2012, exceeding earnings of $4.8 million, or 31 cents per share in the same period last year. Total revenue was $181.2 million versus $169.4 million in the same period last year, while total expenses increased to $168.6 million from $166.3 million in the same period last year.
