This morning, Aetna (AET) reported first quarter earnings of $490.1 million, or $1.48 per share, topping Wall Street estimates. The insurer said enrollment climbed 2% to 18.3 million. but revenue missed estimates, coming in at $9.51 billion. Shares of Aetna were higher by 1.5% this morning as the company revised 2013 earnings guidance to the range of $5.50 to $5.60 per share.
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) lowered its full year earnings forecast to the range of $2.14 to $2.24 per share today in its first quarter earnings report. The company saw revenue fall by 9% to $13.5 billion, well short of analyst estimates of $13.99 billion. The company said currency headwinds and generic drug competition impacted revenue in the quarter. Shares of Pfizer were lower on Tuesday, falling 2.8% so far.
