Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE:RY) reported diluted EPS of $1.29, missing analyst expectations, but the company beat on revenues.
Excluding certain items, net income was $1,967 million, up $232 million or 13% compared to the prior year, driven by solid earnings growth across all business segments, with particular strength in the Canadian Banking, corporate and investment banking and asset management businesses.
Sanderson Farms (SAFM) reported results for its second fiscal quarter and six months ended April 30, 2013.
Net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2013 were $621.2 million, lower than analysts expected, and compared with $595 million for the same period a year ago. For the quarter, net income was $24.4 million, or $1.06 per share, beating analyst expectations.
