The US markets are decidedly lower as we head into the close with the S&P down about 1.5%, the Dow lower by 1% and the NASDAQ down about 2.15%.
The news of the day is a possible military strike on Syria as a result of suspected chemical weapons activity. Oil and gold prices are up on the news, and US Treasuries are higher as well.
In corporate news, J. C. Penney Company (NYSE:JCP) is lower by about 1.6% after Pershing Square Capital Management announced that they priced an underwritten offering of over 39 million shares of the company owned by them.
Tomorrow, investors will have earnings reports from Joy Global (NYSE:JOY), Seadrill (NYSE:SDRL) and Seadrill Partners (NYSE:SDLP).
