This morning, American Tower (NYSE:AMT) announced it would acquire MIP Tower Holdings in a deal valued at $4.8 billion. MIP Tower Holdings is the parent company of Global Tower Partners, a company that owns 15,700 towers in the US and Costa Rica. American Tower said the deal would consist of $3.3 billion in cash and the assumption of $1.5 billion in debt. On the news, shares of American Tower were headed higher.
