The US markets were headed lower on Monday as the US government shutdown is seeming more and more likely as Republicans and Democrats refuse to compromise on the budget.
Good morning this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for September 30, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by more than 2% while the Hang Seng fell by 1.5% overnight. In Europe on Monday, the FTSE 100 was lower by just about 1% and the German DAX fell by nearly 1.3% today.
On the earnings front, Walgreen (NYSE:WAG) reports on Tuesday morning, Monsanto (NYSE:MON) reports on Wednesday morning and Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) reports on Thursday.
On the economic front, auto sales are reported on Tuesday, initial jobless claims are reported on Thursday and September's labor report is released on Friday.
