The US markets were headed higher on Monday morning as positive data out of China has lifted Asian equities overnight. Giving a further boost to the Nikkei was news over the weekend that Japan had won the right to host the 2020 Olympic Games.
Good morning this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for September 9, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by 2.5% overnight while the Hang Seng gained just about 0.5%. The FTSE 100 was lower on Monday, falling by 0.3% this morning and the German DAX fell by just 0.1% today.
On the earnings front, Oxford Industries (NYSE:OXM) reports on Tuesday, Men's Wearhouse (MW) reports on Wednesday and Kroger (NYSE:KR) reports on Thursday
On the economic front, investors will received crude inventory data on Wednesday, initial jobless claims on Thursday and Core PPI data on Friday.
