The market heads into the close with the S&P 500 higher by about 1.4%, as the media is reporting that the Senate has reached a deal to end the shutdown and prevent a debt default. Reports say that Boehner is indicating that the House will not block the deal.
Heading into the last few minutes of trading, the Dow is up 1.3%, the S&P 500 is higher by 1.4% and the Nasdaq is up 1.2%.
Shares of MGIC Investment (NYSE:MTG) are trading higher by more than 14.3% after reporting and unexpected profit. Sprint (NYSE:S) shares have gained more than 4.5% after receiving an upgrade from Macquarie from Neutral to Outperform. And, Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE:SWK) is lower by more than 14.2% after lowering their fiscal 2013 outlook.
